Squeek in the brakes ??

2006 siearra 1500 i started to get a squeek at speeds of 30 to 40 if i put foot on brake it goes away if i go over 40 it stops if im going under 30 it stops i have 26000 miles...what do you think???

have you looked at the pads? it might be the screamers warrning you it is getting time to swap out the brakes.........mike


it can be a dust shield as well...mike

I replaced all my pads and rotors two months ago, they make a scrubbing sound like you described. I attributed it to the poor quality I replaced them with. I bought the cheap version from O' Rileys auto parts. They tend to dust up quickly.

i will have to check the brakes on monday but it is hard to beleave i could need brakes already only 26000 miles in it i have never went that short of a time on brakes

i found as cost of things go up companys use cheaper parts. i been real upset on brake pad life is now real short. i seen alot of short lived pads in the last 3 years........mike

well found the problem it was the ABS sensor rust and grime built up by it...there was a recall for it on the 2005 trucks and not the 2006 the mechanic siad he check it for the hell of it because he rembered the problem on the 2005 now its just wait and wait for the new parts none avalible at this time...

Just out of curiosity, how much life (if any) was left in your OE pads?

there was about 75% left i new i did not use up the brakes that fast
