I have an 04 silverado 1500 a few days ago i went to turn the a/c on and it works fine the problem is the vent position switch isn't working--all i have is the defrost/floor position-any where else i set it it just keeps blowing the air on the windshield and floor - what could the problem be?????
--- the problem seems to have started when i unhooked the battery to put power to the foglights-could this have done something??
I didn't do it. nobody saw me do it, you can't prove anything

I recently had a problem with the AC on my '04. In the "vent" position it would blow HOT air out the vents, all I could do was divert it to the windshield via the "defrost". The AC wouldn't work nor anything else in that system. I restarted the truck later and everything was back to normal. Just what you need to "trouble shoot" a problem. Has happened one more time since and restarting the truck seemed to be the answer, for now.

there are a few issues listed here. the defrost floor air movement is the Blend door motor or door. the hot no ac is the temp control door these are easy to swap out and are the same part. they are held in with 2 or 3 screws and one plug. i done a couple writeups on this site and on my super motors page......mike

but there are 2blend door motors-isn't it kind of strange that neither of them are moving what are the chances that they both go bad at the same time.-- which leads me to think that it might be the control unit itself

nope one blend door and one re-cycle door. and if a voltage spike went down the system yes both can go out at once....mike
