    Default Truck problems

I am no doubt a Chevy man. I have been around them my whole life. The first truck I learned how to drive was GMC three speed on the column 1970 model. This year alone I have already put over $1000 of maintenance work in my truck.
What I have a hard time understanding is that my step dad has a 1998 Tacoma 4x4 extended cab with 280,000 miles and he hasn’t hardly done anything to that truck and it is still running just as strong as the day he bought it. And I have several friends with newer models and about the same mileage as mine and the too haven’t done anything. I just can’t understand why I have put so much money into fixing things and they have done practically nothing. Chevys are American made and should be a lot better made (in my opinion) than any other foreign made trucks.
Just this week I had to have a new rear extension housing seal and bushing replaced along with the yoke and a freeze plug on the top of the Trans. A little better than $350 in one shot. Is it just me that has these kinds of things going on with them or is my truck just one of those one in a million problem trucks? I guess I am really frustrated will all the problems I am having to put up with and just need to get it off my chest with someone who would understand.
    Thanks

Hey Freddie. You are by no means alone in haveing to do maintenance on your ride. We all go thru times when it seems that literally every part is wired together ie say the battery goes out and then the muffler falls off. I don't know how you drive, or how you maintain your truck, but things are gonna break from time to time. Your buddies may not have had "any problems" but they are comming to them just like the rest of us. Just remember it is the luck of the draw who gets um first.

I have 102,000 miles on my '04 Chevy and have not had any "major" expenses, other than normal maint. I am at the age where I drive a lot slower/more sensible than when I was younger and so not as much seems to go wrong. I'm not saying that you don't take care of your truck by any means. At the same time there are probably folks driving imports that are asking the same questions you are. Keep with the Chevies!
