    Default Oil Dipstick Tube Broke

    Morning all,

    Today was my day off so I was planning on going to the store, and before leaving I wanted to check the fluid levels. When I got to the oil dipstick, pulling on the handle pulled the tube along right with it. It seems to be broke off almost clean with the oil pan... so where does this leave me?? I live at college (with a small toolbox in the truck) but home is 3hrs south. Did anyone have this problem? What can be done to replace tube? Pretty sure unsafe to drive

    not sure on yours but are the tubes tapered at the end and just fits into the hole. Is there no support bracket on the tube.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking ... see if you can fit it back inside there and see if it snaps in or not.

    Sorry for the delay guys. I bit the bullet and took it to the local gm dealer. $175 was the final price as the tube broke cleanly right at the oil pan (and all my taps and bolt remover tools are at home). I give my hands off to Sylvester Chevrolet, with no appointment I dropped off the truck, they drove me back to college, and finished the truck today. I've been to a couple of Chevy dealers but these guys are by far the most customer minded. Thanks for all the quick replies, but without the tools I was kind've sunk
