I have a 04 Siverado, and over the past couple of days I've been getting a high pitch noise coming from the right front of the wheel and it's getting worse every time. It gets louder when I turn the wheels either to the left of the right. I checked the brakes thinking that the pads may be worn but there was alot of pad left. But I did notice that when I had pulled on the wheel there was a little bit of play. Coud it possibly be my hub bearing going bad? If so is it an easy job to fix on my own?
Definately sounds like a bad wheel bearing. If there is side to side play in the wheel when you have it lifted, the bearing just needs to be replaced.
As for the difficulty, just depends on your experience and what tools you have. If you haven't done it before, I'd suggest picking up a Helms manual or something similar. See what's involved, then decide if you want to do it yourself. For some its easy, and for other's, it's easier to have somebody else do it.![]()
