I've had about enough of trying to crimp connections for large-gauge wire with channelocks and wondering if I have a good connection. I think I do enough large-wire jobs to make it worthwhile to upgrade to a bigger and stronger attachment method. I was thinking about getting a pair of big bolt-cutter style crimpers, or possibly investing in a propane torch and solder pellets to solder connections. Any ideas as to what way I should go with this? I want to be able to quickly and easily build cables with various connections from top post battery to ring and spade terminals of sizes from say, 8 gauge all the way out to 1/0 or so... Any and all ideas are welcome.

I wouldn't try to crimp anything bigger than 8 guage. You can buy set-screw terminators for large wiring. Monster cable makes some really nice ones, but they are pricey.

I always favor soldiering connections when possible. I've never had a soldiered connection fail on me, I've had a few crimped connections fail and they never fail when its convenient for me.
