All my lights are dimming with a 1.0 Farad cap and a 500 watt amp. I dont have any idea why its happening. Anyone got an ideas?

Upgrade your alternator, wiring from the battery to the alternator and ground cable from battery, and get a bigger battery. A capacitor is a band-aid that hides the real issue and doesn't help anything

Yeah it shouldn't be dimming with a 500 watt amp so I'd suggest going with a better battery. You don't have to go with a 200 optima but I'd head over to autozone/pepboys and shop around. Check all your cables and if they are still diming then you'll probly have to upgrade your alternator like Christoper said but I don't think you will.

That happens to me and I thought something was going wrong, but I heard the alternator kick in. Then the lights brightened up again. I guess thats normal?
I dont think my alternator is going bad because its a 08 but if it is its under warrenty until 2016 or 120,00 miles. I was thinknig about getting a yellow or red top.

Before you go spend alot of money make sure your amp is properly grounded, the best place in a pickup is the seat belt bolts or depends on the model the seat bolts ( seat belt bolts are like required by law to bolt all the way into the frame). Also did you install you cap. properly? with the resistor and all? and if it still fails after this, try some 4 or 0 gauge wire from your altenator to your battery. I highly doubt your alternator cant supply enough power to a 500w amp, and just as a cool mod/fix if you dont think your battery is strong enough, there is an extra spot for a battery in the gm pickups and burbs etc, try a dual battery setup for fun if you want.

Well I had the place that I bought the stereo from install everything and I never had a problem with the lights until I put in my PIAA headlights, it just with those that are making everything dim. I had different bulbs in before the PIAAs and had no problem with the lights dimming, so I think if I get the different bulbs back in the problem might go away. Dont know for sure.
