    Default horsepower, gas mileage, and that badass rumble

    I have a 2008 gmc sierra. with the 5.3l. i want to add maximum horsepower without getting to deep into the engine. maybe adding gas mileage and the beautiful rumble of a classic muscle car

    first priority:
    exhaust, preferably long-tube headers back
    programmer/tuner/custom tune

    second priority:
    cold air intake
    throttle body spacer (highly debatable)

    after that you really start getting into the engine....

    Your MPG's will not be going up much.. Depends on your foot..

    FlowMaster Super 10 muffler, dumped over the axle for Rumble, custom tune from a programmer for hp gain (dependant) on foot control. A programmer will not provide much unless you are in the upper RPM range otherwise you will not experience much change. If you want better 0-60mph times or 1/4mi times a gear change is more helpful. As far as MPG goes, don't expect anything better than 1-2mpg increase. Cold Air induction is snake oil, JMHO.
