    Default g2 cover

hi i have a gmc sierra and was wondering if anyone has the g2 hard folding bed cover made by bak. i am interested in buying a cover but want to be sure that it is a good buy for my truck as i do a lot of mudding, climbing and truck pulls. i see that is cover does not leak well sholdnt leak and i need a cover that will keep mud, dirt and water out of my bed and somthing that is durable and will last years. if you have a g2 let me know how you like it please

have maybe not G2, but backflip that looks almost identical. have for about 8 mths.
    1. looks changed DRAMATICALLY!
    2. it is very convenient, as you have truck bed when you need it. it locks almost solid against the rear window. very secure.
    3. easy to operate. installation took me maybe half an hr, mostly fiddling with proper alignment.
    4. ok, now bad things:
    1. i simply do not feel like it is worth the money. what you get is several aluminum rails and pieces of kydex plastic, with rubber seals inbetween. for what it is, it looks like it was maybe $100 worth to make tops.
    2. it'll leak some. not too bad though. i use it all the time, covering groceries, etc, never had major issue
    3. thing i really do not like about it is that them cheapmonks did it just yey right for the bed. you have just a tad of overlap over the tailgate and the front bed wall. just like a forth of an inch. i fiddled with it back and forth, but it's either that way, or the other way. as a result, tailgate rubber seal sags downward, and looks like crap. tailgate plate sags also, pulling on the rubber. rubber's glued in place, so sag ripped it off the plastic eventually. i just riveted/superglued it in place.

i saw a much better flip though. backflip lays flat against the bed walls. that one has SIDEWALLS, and the flip plates rest on them. sidewalls are maybe inch high. it all looked mush better and there was no centerline sag. should have gotten that one, looks much better quality/sturdiness.

again, backflip is ok - just overpriced. i give $500 worth at the best and for the blind buyer.
i re-read your post. no, do not buy it for havy use. not strong enough. find a flip cover but one that has plates integrated with sidewalls, should be much stronger than bakflip product.

    similar to this one:

see that additional ridge(sidewall) underneath the plates? btw, when i bought mine, it was like $700. they went down!
