I'm amazed that there's no reply's to this. I am a partner in a small family operation in SE Montana. We run a cow/calf operation. Our "cash crop" is the sale of steer calves to feedlots and the quality of our stock is good enough that most of our heifer calves are sold as replacement stock. Our only "farm" product is hay, we keep about 550 tons per year for our own use and sell as much as 1000 tons ( IF we are lucky ) We grew wheat until 2012, but got out of that - just could not make any money growing wheat any more. (small operations are fading away ). Ken

I didnt own one but worked on one for yeas when I lived in Fennville (SW Michigan). It was a family owned u-pick apple orchard. Was a great outfit. I would have to walk the entire property, about 200 acres, and fertilize the trees (not that way). After I went to college, I got to work weekends and drive a golf cart around all day. It was one of the best jobs I've had.
