i have a 08 colorado and installing a switch box in the cab for the safety lights. need to know best way to run the power line from the battery to the inside of the truck

Why do you want to run a power line into the cab?
The switching system should be set-up with underhood relays, all power should go to the relay then to the light. The only wires from the cab should be a signal wire from the switch to the relay.
Light switches arent normally rated to take a lot of amps, if properly run through a relay they only see a minimal amount of amperage.
And as an added benefit the relays are normally closer to the power source and the end user, this in turn reduces line drop and helps the lights to burn brighter.
