I'm not a GM tech, mostly Benz, but help all clients with any other vehicles they own, so have done my share of GM work over 40 years. This 05 5.3 Envoy pooped its original alternator a couple of day ago and we simply installed a freshly reman'd one, which was fully tested before it was installed. Vehicle started and went into the reduced power mode (limp home?) and will not reset following normal protocols. Could a battery cable reconnection cause enough of a arc (spark) to throw the control modules and sensors out of sync and leave it stuck in this terribly underpowered condition?

Ideas for other easy ways to turn off the reduced power mode?
