    Default washington residents, help! lol

so as I posted before I am relocating to washington state when I get out of the navy in september. I have a few job possiblities, but don't really know much about the areas, if there good places to live, cheap cost of living, etc... so one is in Chehalis, wa, i guess its just outside of olympia, and the other is roosevelt, wa, anybody ever lived in or been to these areas? any help would be great, thanks

I live just over an hour South of Chehalis. By looking at the state map you follow I-5 south down close to the Washington/Oregon border and East from a town called Woodland. I live in Yacolt, WA and work in Amboy, WA. Minimum wage is the highest in the nation at $8.07. Average gas prices are $3.99-$4.19, and diesel is around $4.69. You can find a decent 3 bedroom/2-bath home for $200K-$250K. Average cost for a gallon of milk is $3.50, and a loaf of bread for $1-$2. Sales tax on non-food items averages 8%

I work in the grocery industry and have for 28 years so I'm not up on the economy as far as other lines of work and such.

Let me know if you have anymore questions and I will try to answer them for you.

Also, the beach is only about an hour and a half drive from Chehalis...

And you can even drive on it!

Why do you think they call it "The Evergreen State". Abundant wooded areas and plenty of recreation oppertunities for fishing, hunting, camping, boating, etc.

Here are a few pics of the area about 15 miles from Yacolt while we were hunting.
    This is Mt.St.Helens

The town of Yacolt where I live is in the center of the picture.

I did a Google search for Roosevelt, WA and it is in Klickitat County which is more South-Eastern Washington and is drier. I do most of my hunting in Klickitat County for Elk and Deer. The blacktail deer are good sized and the farther East you run into more mule deer which are huge!

that is some beautiful country, i'm definately getting pretty excited about this, I got a call back from a power plant in chehalis and they're flying me out next week to do a interview, and if i get the job, i'm definately taking it. I can't wait to get away from this metropolaten area and into the country again. I haven't been hunting in years and fishing isn't what it is back home, you can't even fish off of the bank at most lakes and rivers, only boats and docks, one month left though, can't complain too much. thanks for all the info guys, and the pics, are ya'll still talking about having a northwest get together?

Western Washington is great I have a ton of family there plus my Seahawks would be close by. I think you would love the area.
