New GM Truck Owner from NH! GM Truck Guru's, please read! :)
My name is Rob and I'm from Conway, NH. I just bought my first GM truck...a 2002 GMC Sierra SLE Z71 xtra cab 4x4 with 138k miles.
I'm totally new to this site, but I know I want to be part of a community that knows these trucks! I would be interested in knowing if there are any "GM Truck Guru's" in my area that I could take the truck to for service...otherwise I am stuck taking it to the dealer.
If anyone has any advise as to the "must do's" for this particular model truck, I'm all ears. I don't have much of a history at all on it...I can tell it was used as a work truck because it's a little dirty inside, but nothing major. Runs and drives great, but I'd love to either get together with, or talk to, someone who knows these trucks and can help me get on the right track to making this thing last for years to come.
Anyway...I don't have any pictures yet (I just got it home tonight!)...but I will post one as soon as I can.
I'm thrilled to be here, and even more thrilled to have a GM truck! Just from reading a few posts I can tell this is a great place to hang out. Looking forward to meeting you folks at some point!

Well we are thrilled to have you Rob! Welcome and congrats on the new truck!
As for what you can do to your truck, you can never go wrong with the performance trio of an intake, exhaust and programmer (or custom tune). I have the first of the two on that list and I am very happy with both. They have given me more power and a little better mileage.
What size engine does it have?Matt

Thanks for the response! The truck has a 4.8 in it, which is fine with me as I'm not going to be doing any major hauling of anything...mostly taking trash to the dump!
I appreciate the tip on what I can do performance wise....but right now, I'm more concerned that I have the right maintenance items taken care of. That, and getting the dog smell out of the upholstery!

HAHAHA....gotta love this:
When I first started hinting around that I wanted a truck, my wife would shoot back "You don't need a truck!"
I haven't had it 24 hours yet....GUESS WHO took it to work this morning?!?
I'll make a trucker out of her yet! I don't know about you guys, but there's somethin' about a girl that drives a truck!
