    Default Steering wheel controlls interface

I just bought a clarion Dvd Head Unit but it doesnt have the steering wheel controll output option. Is there a way I can still use the steering wheel controlls with out it? I do have the interface harness for my onstar and bose system and the steering wheel controlls interface. Thanks

You didn't mention the Clarion model number. The OE data is all tied together, so you may be able to link with the wheel controls via your harness. You can't be the first one to wonder about this; your best info source is the mfg's site, check out clarion_car_audiovideo. If your new unit is compatible, they may have the instructions for establishing a link with the wheel controls. Do you have access to an OBD-II scanner?... because you'll probably need to poke some codes.
    Are we having fun, yet?

Ok, In order to keep your bose system working with the clarion radio your gonna need an OS2BOSE interface module from pac-audio.com which you have..

But in order to use the steering wheel controls your gonna need an SWIX module from PAC and your gonna need to use your remote for the radio to program after installing it..
    http://pac-audio.com/swixprogramming...rogramming.asp

Through my company we sell and install them for around $80.00, So you should be able to find these at an audio store in your area..

    Hope this helps..

Yes. I already have those products. Its just my head unit (Clarion MAX385VD) does not have the output for the SWI-JACK so I'm wondering if there is another way I can do it by cutting into those wires or something?

Not that I am aware of. I know you cant use the SWI-JACK module with your clarion, You are gonna have to go get a SWIX module

Ok. Also with my Bose/ onstar interface (GMAH24B) from Peripheral electronics, the Illumination lead is not working. Would you happen to know what would be the problem? Thanks

Have you checked in the radio menu to see if the illumination sence is turned off?
