Default New sound for 08 2500 LTZ

Thinking about replacing the factory head (6 cd player and Bose) with something with a screen and perhaps GPS. Any suggestions for what offers best fit and function. Things I must have are DVD playback, Video file playack (avi, mpg, etc), MP3's of course, good FM section. It will need to of course interface with door chimes, etc, steering wheel controls, multi zone so kids can use rear controls, IPOD, ZUNE, etc.

What do I do about the factory Bose sub and amp? I have been looking at the Z3 and the high end Kenwood. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Any ideas if replacment affects warrantys of new vehicle. Only have 50 miles on it right now.

    Thanks,

definately the Z3, but thats just my opinion and what i am gonna do, as far as compatibility i dont really know, i think you have to buy a few connectors but all wii end up working with the pioneer, as far as the sub and amp and regular speakers, i think you might be at a problem, someone will hopefully pickup with more knowledge than i, but i know that the bose system is a royal pain in the @$$ for people looking to modify, not even sure the door speakers will work away from the factory HU,

one thing i can say with absolute assurity is that an aftermarket HU can not and will not viod any warranty except obviously if your pioneer fries they arent giving you a new one, the legal statute as far as warranties go is that to void a warranty, the original warranteer has to prove without a doubt that the modification you made caused the problem. so say you replace the radio and a month later the DIC stops working, they have to fix it unless they can prove beyond a shadow of doubt that your install caused the problem,

not sure if you know or not so i will just say it

from what ive been told, is anything that has OnStar in it is a pain in the ass to change out the head unit to begin with, but im assuming that you dont care about having OnStar.

With having the bose and onstar you could be in for some real problems. Compatibility with the existing factory will be challanging, all the wiring will have to be replaced do not use any of the existing, your best bet would be to wire a whole new system to stand alone from the factory, but leaving the factory wiring in place in case you sell it later on. Its gonna be expensive and if you are not to sure of what your doing you can estimate the total cost of your equipent by half and that should be your labor and wiring cost, DO NOT go to best buy or some chain store to have it installed, go to a custom shop. they might even be able to work something with your factory stuff to let oonstar still work

Thought there were kits that allowed for keeping of on-star and steering wheel controls. How about the rear seat controls?

    Thanks,

newer gm vehicles HU's are set up completely different...all the data from the ecu and what not goes threw the HU..so that means if you wanted to change out your HU your gonna need a good pennys worth of special harnesses...without the harnesses alot of stuff in your truck will not work;steering controls, interior lights, factory alarm, gauges, onstar and more..it completely sucks..this is what i was told from a proffessional custom audio shop...im not certain what years but its somethin you might want to look into asap...if im wrong i apologize ..but good luck with your truck!

I have an 08 LT2 and I re did the whole stereo, I kept everything including the XM Radio, it was a pain in the ass to get done, the wiring harrness alone is about $200. I have a touch screen dvd deck and I love it, the only thing my deck doesnt have is GPS thats cuz it was an extra $500 between the deck with GPS and the one without, and I already had a Garmin so I went with the ony without it.
