    It really does depend on what you want to spend. The great thing about the S-10 is that it was made for 20 years so there are tons of parts, stuff to do to it, etc.

    you wand a big bang in a little banger, get a crate engine, scout your junk yards, you might run into something worth your while, or you can just come from hell and get a 502 crate engine. you bring more ideas to the table, and more people can leave better insight.
    2000 silverado with a 5.3l v8, shorty headers, upgraded plugs, 10 mil wires, magnaflow high flow cats, flowmaster 80 series muffler(2 in 2 out) w/ 18 inch stainless silverline tips. i have a k&n CIA. its a 4x4 z71 offroad package. Ls model.
    extended cab 160k miles, truxedo low profile bed cover, diablo sport predator tuner.
    reman tranny @ 130k miles

    a 5.3 in a s10 would be pretty nice... it should keep up with the crowd.. good luck! and congrats on your liscence

    im thinking 99 to 07 not the new style....or does anybody know anything about ls into a late model s10 or colorado

    i would say find a reg cab short bed 2wd with a 5.3 V8. im not sure if they put the 6.0 in the 1500 but if you can fin one go for it. it will move im sure. than if you have some left over money think of an intake, exhaust, and tune. someone on here used to have a real nice white one i forget the name tho. you will beat f-150's with that im sure
