it does affect it. the plasitc absorbs less heat. you want colder air to get the most hp, colder air gives more hp. its on their web sites, and im pretty sure they know what their talking about.
im not sure how you come to this conclusion but it is affected. ?

Old thread brought back because I'm looking at getting a K&N filter only rather than a whole air intake replacement.
Has anybody got just the filter and if so is it worth having over say a regular Fram? Or am I best off at spending a couple hundred dollars on the whole kit and kubootle?

Thanks in Advance for you're responses

Don,t believe everything you read, or everything you are marketed. go check out some real dyno testing under various conditions. most of it is hype and 2 to 6 horse max. I like numbers over a colorful marketing presentation, hey those work, they sell a boat load of them. So in the interest of having fun, enjoy.

Again....intake systems are a joke. Glad I am no the only one to see this.

Also, I dont get the whole K&N fanboy thing. There are better filters out there that dont require half the work. I.E. AFE dry filters.

byane, if you are wanting the sound of an intake (not buying it for the mpg increase or hp increase) look at Air Aid MIT and pair it with a dry-cleanable drop in filter.

Also after dumping countless dollars in numerous trucks and sport cars buying intakes I have learned from my mistakes. If someone is willing to dump 300-400 dollars in an intake system just take that money and invest in a custom tune and you will see actual improvements and might even have a little gas money left over.

Alston, once again I agree with you, as I've made the same mistakes, that you've mentioned, and going with a Custom Tune will Yield you the Best Return on your Investment!!!.....the Best Bang for your Buck.
