    Default 1999 Chevy

My 1999 Chevy 5.0 305 is driving me crazy. Complete tune up,replaced the 02 sensor, cleaned the mass air flow sensor and still spits and sputters, blows black exhaust. Any suggestions Thanks Tommy

Sounds like your timing is retarded. Or, a bad ECM. I had probs like that and swapping out my ECM corrected the problem.

My first thought, with the blowing black smoke is that it is running rich. And the first reason that I can think of for it to run rich is a fuel delivery problem: either the FPR diaphragm has failed leaking unmetered fuel into the engine, or the fuel pressure is running really high. The first thing I'd probably do with the symptoms you describe would be to put a fuel pressure gauge on it, see what the pressure is, and see if the fuel system can hold pressure.

I agree with the above statements. I know it sounds stupid but how's your air filter?
