Default Texas - Hurricane Ike Price Gouging Hotline

They finally got something right. A price-gouging hotline for anything ... gas, hotel rooms, food, etc. Becuase Texas is a disaster-zone, it's illegal to jack up prices on necessities. It's not like this is the Superbowl ... it's a disaster.

$25,000 fine for price-gouging. If the victim is over 65 ... $250,000 fine!

Good point. They'd call that normal market forces due to the refineries being down. There were reports of $5 or even $6 gas at places. Hotel rooms that went from $89/night to $300/night. Food that went from $.50/can to $4.00/can.

AW MAN i'm glad someone's doing something. I'm tired of these gas stations guys taking advantage of us. It's like they look for a reason to mark up the gas "OH LOOK, it's a snow flake here in Bama! That means a blizzard, so we can shoot the gas price up."
