I was on the stage of burn-out, Was a Firefighter 2/EMTA. I ended up moving a year after I got off the Department. Our Vol Dept had an average call of 2 per day.

My highest call year was 352 calls. I will never regret being on the department and I never forget the danger all firefighters are in at one time or another..

I was badly injured at work in 2002 and refused to have fellow workers pick me up and carry me to the pickup to take me to the hosp. When the Squad arrived to take me, one firefighter was amazed when he said with an arm injury like yours, it is a wonder you are not yelling in pain. Well I may have been in some shock but I looked at him and said "I was a Vol a few years ago and it irritated me when all the yelling happens. He replied he had never see someone so calm. I had taken a fall from a bucket truck at work and the first thing to contact the gravel parking lot was my elbow. Dislocated and broke both bones. 5 surgeries later I have a Titanium elbow.

And my respect for those that continue on will never quit.
