I don't have a haynes manual yet so can anyone tell me how to reset my oil light when I change my oil? Thanks in advance. Oh yeah I drive an 01 silverado 5.3.

With the truck off, turn the key to the run position and then hit your accelerator 3 times within five seconds. The oil light should then flash 3-5 times, indicating that it was reset.

That is how my 02 and 04 worked, so I am assuming that it is the same...

    Hope that helps.

The oil light flashed a couple times like you said it would but the oil light came back on.

Once the light starts flashing you have to turn the key off. if you just start it up it won't reset.

You get it taken care of? If that didn't work, I am at a loss...

Nope, I turn the key to ACC position then pump gas pedal three times, the battery light flashes once then I turned the key off and pulled it out. I then started the truck a few seconds later and the check eng. oil light came on then flashed about 5 times then stayed on.
This silly oil light is driving me nuts! Is there any other way to reset the computer on this 01 silverado?
