Default Need help finding a Black Blow Tie Emblem

Occasionally I see trucks with black emblems and I've searched on the internet and cant not find one anywhere. I found one that has a red trim around it, but I would like an all black one. Please help!

I think it's more a question of paint, not so much where to buy a black bow tie.

Just give the regular one a good scuffing then hit it with some black spray paint.

go to your local hardware store, and get a soft scrub pad and some krylon spray paint. you will probably have to pop all of the little plastic rivets out that hold the plastic shroud on under your hood so that you can access your bowtie. you might need a flat screwdriver to help you pop out the emblem but it isnt hard at all. you should be able to figure it out in a matter of seconds. take the soft scrub pad (simmilar to what you get off the back of a dish sponge) and scuff it up nice and evenly. you dont have to apply alot of pressure b/c it will show when you paint. get a degreaser and wipe it off, then wash it with water. when its all nice and dry, you can apply paint. make sure you shake it well and hold it about 8 inches away from the emblem. smoothely and evenly coat the emblem until covered. if you have a wire shelf or basket to set it on, you wont have the spray build up like you will if you were to place it on cardboard. allow 20 - 30 min to dry and apply again. put 2 - 4 coats if you think its necessary. i didnt put a clearcoat on mine but you can if you want. i think i used a semi-gloss but you can use what you want. lightly wetsand the emblem when you're done. its not safe to pop the emblem back into place or even sand it until you give it about a day to harden... believe me, i made the mistake and got finger prints and had to do it all over again. after you're done, you should ben good to go.

good info above, the only thing that makes it easier is you don't have to remove the bowtie to paint it, just buy a 10ft drop cloth from walmart or wherever, about 3 bucks, and some painters tape, tape around the tie, then hang the cloth over the whole front of the truck, cut a whole around the bowtie, then tape the cloth to the truck around the tie so you have a dropcloth covering the truck, and just a hole to paint the tie, way less intrusive, and those ties are easy to break when taking them off, i did 3 coats and it came out great, i didn't use a clear coat either cause i wanted that dull tone to it, and it hasn't chipped yet, had it for about 4 months that way, i did front and back same way, and i'm thinking about doing the steering wheel bowtie lol.

I used Krylon Fusion silver metallic color and Krylon clear glaze. I did 4 light coats of the color to make sure there were no runs and waited about 30 - 45 minutes in between each coat. Same with the clear glaze. The can says that one coat of the glaze is the equivilant of 3 coats of clear coat. I also let the bow tie sit over night to make sure everything was dry completly. I think everything turned out really well and it only cost me 10 bucks. Just go buy black insted of silver and you don't have to sand of scuff up the emblem. Just wash it and make sure it's dry.

i've beel thinking of putting a 1/8 inch silver pinstripe about 1/4 inch from the outside edge of the emblem or i have also thought about saking silver paint and putting some artificial rivets on to make it look a little more rugged

Thanks everyone, painting it sounds a lot a better than dropping 100 dollars or so.
