Default Goodyear Fortera Tires on Chevy Traverse

So my factory tires need to be replaced ... They're Goodyear Fortera 255/65R18 ... which it turns out is an unusual size tire. Seems that I had to pay a lot with limited options in that size or move to a 265/60R18 tire which is more common.

Anyhow, the tires are handling very good still but they all hit the wear marks so they have to be replaced.

So I was looking at some nitto mt-410s $197/ea, Michelin $200/ea, etc. Started to look at others and finding that decent tires were all starting about $150/ea.

Discount has a set of used Goodyear Forteras, which is the OEM tire so they higher priced just because they are oem ... for $230/ea. Ouch.

Wait a sec. They have a set of Goodyear Fortera take-offs with 8/32nd of tread left (new was 11/32nd) for $60/ea.

So that's over 60% tread for 25% of the price of new. Seems to be a good deal to me.

Update: I've been happy with these tires and they've treated me well so far. We put probably over 6000 miles on them since we got them about 8 or 10 weeks ago now.

Update #2. The tread on one of them has started to seperate. Discount tire is offering me full refund on the defective tire and 50% on the other tires if I want to get all four replaced. Really not what I had expected to hear actually after less than 3 months on the vehicle. Really didn't want to drop a bunch of cash on this right now either.

Actually the guys at discount tires looked at it again and are offering a full refund on all 4 tires.

They're recommending Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia ... and a set of four are going to cost probably $900 before I get credit on these tires.

Yeah, like I said in another thread, they looked at the history and the number of miles that I had put on, which was about 5k actually and they said that those tires must have been sitting around for a long time and just started to fail due to age, plus looks like they weren't accurate really on the amount of tread left either, as two of them were showing about 4/32 left, when they sold them to me they were booked as four with 8/32. Turns out two of them were close to that and two of them were much less, like maybe 6/32 left of tread.

Anyhow, they didn't make excuses or anything. They said they were sorry and it was a mistake to have even put those tires on there in the first place and they gave me full credit back on the new tires for the cost of the old tires. That's why I've been mainly a Discount Tire customer since 1990 and think about them as my #1 place to get tires, and this episode means that I will keep going there to get my tires as I know that they'll take care of me.
