    Default Alternator changing

I have a 2005 Equinox and I have to change the alternator this weekend.. I'm use to changing them on 4 cylinders I was wondering if anyone can help me out in releasing the tension on the serpintine belt. I don't want to damage the belt. The alternator is in a easy place but I would like to figure out the tensioner issue.

Thanks alot for the reply. I got the code "generator lamp "L" control circuit" p0621 and misfire p300 codes and I was told it cause the alternator is going bad. Not sure how true that is but I bought a new alternator and gonna take a run at it.
