Thread: steering play

  1. #1

    Default steering play

I did a search but came up empty. I have an issue with safety at this point. I have a 4- 6 inch play. Is this something I should be cocerned about? What could have caused it, and should I take it to a shop or is there a simple adjustment I can perform. Thanks for any advice.

I would be concerned. it could be the gear box or a combination of worn out front end components.

Thanks pikey. I had a alignment shop check it out when i had new brakes installed. About 2.5 months ago. I was hoping for an adjustment that I could make myself. Thanks again.

Almost always a combination of worn parts that have to be replaced. There's not really anything to adjust out.

Pitman arm and tie rod ends are the usual sources of trouble
