    Default New from NY

Hi, from Upstate NY. I just bought a 2001 Silverado LS off my brother, it used to be a work truck, but I'm hoping to get the dings and such out of it and make it look a little better than what it does now.

First, the 4.8L that was in it, died @ 175k. So that's coming out and a Kenne Bell blown 383 stroker is going in as we speak. If anybody had any ideas for different motor swap, feel free to let me know.I'm open to ideas for a backup motor.

Just a general idea of what I have going in.

Thanks a ton! Most of the time when you sign up on a forum and introduce yourself, they aren't all that welcoming. So thanks for making another GM owner feel welcome!

I'm hoping for around 600-800 RWHP when all is said and done. I'm going with the same setup my brother had in his 86 IROC-Z28. He had something around 800 RWHP, but we'll see.

Any tips on anything are always welcome, and will never be flamed on.

My current list of goodies that are going on to the truck when the motor goes in are -

    Exhaust:
    - Gibson Split rear-exit dual exhaust
    - Gibson Headers
    - Custom Fabricated CAI
    - Magnaflow Highflow cats
    - Hooker Y-Pipe

    Engine:
    - LS1 block out of a 2002 Camaro SS
    - Block was bored 0.60 over.
    - 383 stroker kit from EngineKits.com
    -- Recessed pistons (9.5:1 compression)
    -- 1 piece Rear main
    - Edelbrock LS1 Pro-Port Cylinder Heads
    - Crane Cams Top-End (Z-Series Cam, Rockers, Lifters, Timing Chan Kit, etc)
    - Kenne Bell 2.6L Twin-screw supercharger

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll find the list somewhere. But that's just the general idea of what all's going into it.

And once again thanks a TON for making another GM owner feel welcome!

2001 Chevy Silverado LS 383 Stroker

383 Stroker - Kenne Bell 2.6L Supercharger - Gibson Headers and cat-back, Hooker Y-Pipe, Magnaflow Cats - Urethane Bushings - And much MUCH more to come.
