door handle just spins

the interior handle on my 99 burban just spins but the outside one wrks just fine. Is this something easy to fix or a PITA? I am now fully knowledged on how to remove the door panel after the infamous sloppy joe attack. Just not sure on what would be next.

Those handles break pretty easy and quit working. You can pick up a new one at your local auto parts store pretty cheap, but they usually only come in the grey. They are not hard to replace, just a couple of rivets to drill out.

can sombody give me an idea on what i would have to drill out, I took the panel out and just see one rivet on the handle, and how to reattach it once i get the new one, this is on the drivers door

You will need to drill the head off of the rivet in the handle and either replace it with another rivet or use a small bolt and nut. If you use a bolt and nut, make sure it it not too long and scrapes on the window as it goes up and down.

Ok, so once I drill that rivet out the whole assembly should just pop out then?

Mostly. It is held in with some clips on the back of the plastic. I think you just slide it back a bit and then it should come out, then disconnect the rods. Installation is reverse.

Are you able to see where it is broken?
