    Default Issues with Acceleration

I have a 01 5.3L that has problems with acceleration. Sometimes it runs just great but then it won't accelerate and throws off random codes. I have changed the MAF, O2 sensors and inline fuel filter. Has anyone else had this problem?

What codes is it "throwing off"?

1st time my '98 did something similar, it was the fuel pump dying. I was lucky enough to get it home, and then it wouldn't start back up. Intermittent like that can make it tricky, but one of the first things I'd do would be to put a fuel pressure gauge on it.

2nd time I had similar symptoms on my '98 was because the battery post came loose. That weak spot in the circuit must have thrown things off, because it was fixed by tightening that connection.

Welcome to the site! Is your 01 5.3 a Suburban, Silverado, etc.? I have an 01 Suburban 1500 w/5.3 and there is a factory recall on the fuel delivery system and i got a new fuel pump installed at the dealer for free because of the recall.

I get it now Rado2001 = 2001 SilveRADO. Maybe research recalls for your year and model or talk to your dealer.

I had an acceleration problem with my 93 Suburban, and after being told by two different dealerships, that it was within specs., I took it to an independent shop (that I later found out had been a GM Goodwrench troubleshooter), and had a complete dyno test run. The problem was a defective distributor, and the printout showed exactly what I had described. Although the dealer had jerked me around until the warranty expired, next time my first trip will be to have a dyno test. It was money well spent. Now the 454 pulls and hauls like a 454, instead of a Prius.
