I just purchased a 03 denali. I am wondering if the trailer brake can be hooked up like plug and play or do I have to splice into the wiring harness. please help
What a truck!!
I think you will have to splice it in but here is a websit that will help you find the right adapter.

yes it will have to be spliced unless your truck came with the adaptor that allows you to plug into the port

No splicing needed if you buy the right brake controller. Check out the Prodigy from Tekonsha. I bought one for my Silverado and besides being one of the best trailer brake controllers on the market, they also sell the "Plug and Play" wiring harnesses for different vehicles so you DO NOT need to splice. Here is the LINK to the Prodigy.

i am sure this is how it works, if your truck has the towing package which includes the hitch and 7 way plug from factory then you can purchase the proper controller and harness to just plug and play but if you don't have the towing package then you need to wire it all in. If your lucky enough to have plug and play its a matter if about 2 minutes to install i bought the harness that pluged into my 02 silverado and the controller that plugged into the harness and sure enough theres even 2 holes under the dash above the throttle that line up with the holes in the bracket and done.
