    Default Factory tuning/Gas hog question.

I have an 07 Silverado Classic 2500, 6.0, extended cab, short bed. Its a great truck that overall I like very much, however, something doesn't quite seem to be right. I say this because I have been in many of the same truck and engine combos. My truck seems to accelrate very differently from the rest...more sluggish I suppose at the low end. Secondly, it runs a bit rougher and I get horrible gas mileage compared to everyone else with the same truck that I know. I'm getting about 10 to 11 mpg. My question is wether or not there is some sort of factory tuning that can be altered to get this thing to run properly. Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the site! You should research either purchasing a programmer and have the ability to add a variety of tunes (economy, towing, performance) as well as calibrate your speedo when changing tire size, ability to read and reset diagnostic trouble codes, real-time data readout, etc. Or, you can inquire about custom tuning where a shop could put a tune in your truck to suit your needs. You may consider an aftermarket intake and exhaust to get it breathing better as well.

welcome to the forum! You may have different gears than the other trucks you have been in which can make it feel different.

Check out www.trifectaperformance.com he has squeezed 18 mpg out of his Silverado.

Tell him TomsHHR sent you. Vince can send you a tuner that you can plug in and download your tune to your truck. Tuning time... about 5 minutes.

You may take it to your dealer and get them to reflash your PCM. A friend of mine just bought a Jeep Wrangler and has had to go back to the dealer twice to get updates for his PCM to get things to run better. Not sure if it would be a similar problem.
