    Bear in mind I'm not 100% positive, but if its anything like the other dealer options, it should already be wired for it. Just a matter of bolting the appropriate hardware on the truck. No different than the trans gauge on the 03's or the upgraded seats. Wiring is already in place for it. Makes it a lot easier for them on the assembly line.

    would it be the same thing for an older gm like an 2004?

    If you're prewired for mirror signals, then the wires have to go thru the door umbilicus. Check your schematic for the appropriate wire color code (Lt and Dk Blue?), and then pull the rubber back for a look at the wires. If you see the correct colored wires, then the hard part was done at the factory.
