I was off today so I decided to work on the sub. Based on everything discussed in the other thread it sure seemed to be the fuel pressure regulator. I got it changed and I now have fuel pressure but maybe not enough. It will now crank and idle fine and will accellerate to 1500-2000 rpm then it wants to die. I put the code reader on it and it said MAP so I changed the MAP sensor. No improvement. So just for the heck of it I also changed the MAF sensor dang thing is 'spensive. Still the same. It will build fuel pressure to 60 psi but it drops back to a tad over 50 when running and then drops to about 40 when I try to accellerate. So lets see, between the fuel pump the MAF the MAP the FPR and a gasket set - I'm down about $540. But it does idle now.
Any ideas, other than the one I have of taking it to a shop, would be appreciated?
Pel ~ a tad down in the dumps
Better than the 5-10 psi we had before. However, the pressure should never drop to 40. When you press the accelerator (and lower engine vacuum) fuel pressure should increase.
The volume check suggested at the end of the other thread seems like a good idea.
Is fuel being returned to the tank when pressure drops?
I don't remember from the other thread -- have you changed the fuel filter?

Yes, we did change the filter when we changed the pump. Someone mentioned the possibility of a second filter but I can't locate but the one.
I could try the volume check if the bleed off on the gauge I have would do it or does it have to be on the return side?
I don't know how I could check to see if fuel is returning short of lowering the tank and disconnecting the return line.
After a night to 'sleep on it' I have 'bout decided to take it to someone. This has turned out to be one of those - I'll do it myself and save some money - just didn't work out.
Really depressing, Pel
Whoe pump did you put in? I know a lot of people who won't use anything but AC Delco pumps on these, because they feel that the aftermarket pumps aren't up to OEM specs. I'm wondering if you got a bad pump or a badly designed pump.
Have you inspected the fuel lines? Any signs of kinks or other obstructions in the supply line?

The pump came from Carport. Fuel lines look OK.
The FPR came from Advanced Auto Parts. The sensors came from O'Reilly's.
Guess I like to spread the wealth.
