    Default Hello from Kokomo!

    HI!

New member here and just wanted to say hello from Kokomo, IN!

I have an older Chevy Van, but it is mine and I love it. It is a 1998 Chevy Express 1500 conversion van that has been a great van for our family. It is worn in places and I have lots of questions on repairs and things like that. For instance...the door panels aren't like the old panels that used to have the Christmas Tree fasteners on them. Both my door panels are falling apart due to the people who fixed my windows not knowing how to properly take them off. They rigged them back together and about 6 months later they started falling to pieces. I'm looking for some new ones, but want to know the right way to take them on and off.

The van is at the age where it isn't so new that the wife won't let me modify it anymore, so I am starting to do my own updgrades!! I have a new navigation radio that I am going to install as soon as I find a spare dash piece that I can cut up and modify. Should be fun!!!

So where is the best place to ask questions about this type of stuff?? What about the best place to ask questions about engine problems? I'm having a real problem right now with the thing not wanting to start when it is cold outside. Looking for input on that as well.

Hopefully some of you will tell me the best places to ask questions. Its nice to have found a home for other G Van lovers!!

    Thanks,

    Doug

    Welcome to the GMTC Doug!

There are several forums available for you to post your questions in. They are all divided by category... electrical, engine, suspension, etc etc. If you have general questions that pertain to your van there is a forum section for that too!

First let me say welcome to the site.

As to your modding question you can try the General Tech Q&A section or the Coffee shop. Maybe even in the Audio, video section considering that your installing a nav unit.

Just signed up on the site myself. I live in NC but did live in Bunker Hill for about 15 years. Worked for a mortgage company in Kokomo back then. My truck is a 98 w/t pickup and I am slowly working on it to add things like cruise, power windows and locks, overhead console...the list goes on. Anyway, good luck with yours.

    Welcome to the site
About the cold start did you clean the MAF sensor?
The distribution cap is something you could look at if it's worn and you have a little moister the van won’t start I had it with mine.
