    Default Question about boost.

I have a friend with a 97 Silverado single cab long bed. It has the 6.5L Turbo Detroit Diesel. From what both him and I understand, these typically run about 7-8 lbs of boost stock. His is running 17-18 lbs. We're just curious what has been done to this truck. He has only owned it for about a year, and as far as he knows nothing has been done. With quick glances under the hood, neither of us can see why it is running so high...

    Any ideas?

So very, very, totally out of my league on this one.

Good luck finding the information you want.

My friend has a boot gauge on his Banks equped Powerstroke. He is pushing 25 psi at grades pulling a load. I do not know what psi your motor should operate at from the factory. Some things to consider would be new turbo or possibly a faulty gauge. I doubt that any down line constriction is causing excessive boost without damaging or crushing an air hose.
Sorry, all I can think of.
