    Default Engine Clatter at WOT

I've noticed the last few times I've put the pedal to the floor (usually when passing someone), I hear a slight clatter from the engine. I changed to synthetic oil a little over 2000 miles ago, and I don't remember ever hearing it before that. My truck has about 68000 miles on it. What could be causing that clatter? Is it a problem? What can I do to fix it? Thanks!

Bumping this thread. I hadn't noticed the clatter again until yesterday. I punched the pedal to the floor from a slow, rolling stop and there was more than a slight clatter. It hauled a$$, but the noise sounded awful. Anything I can test to find out what it might be? I want to fix this. I don't like my engine making weird noises!

Is spark-knock like detonating? If so it could be from running low octane fuel, a dirty throttle-body, or maybe even some injector cleaner might help.

It's like a skittering clatter...if that makes sense. I do run regular fuel, but I ran the regular fuel tune on my max energy. Maybe I'll run a can of Seafoam through the gas tank. I plan on playing around under the hood tomorrow to see if I can notice anything out of the ordinary.

Also try putting in some octane booster and see if that helps. Maybe you got some bad gas into the tank?

My Wife's 01 Suburban w/5.3 chatters if she does not run mid-grade fuel or better.

Hmm...do you think it's anything I need to be concerned about? It only does it if I really get on it, and I don't do that very often. I guess it still couldn't hurt to run some Seafoam through it. You think I should re-tune to the premium setting on my programmer and start using premium fuel?

    Question

A month later and you are still having the problem, I would have thought you would have run a couple of tanks through by now! I have my own question that may help you! Could a faulty knock sensor cause this?

Well, I hadn't noticed the clatter again until now. Only happens when I really punch it, but I don't do that very often. Not sure if the knock sensor could be causing it or not. To be honest, I don't know what a knock sensor does
