Default My first DIY oil change...

Ok, I am about to change the oil in my "07 silverado classic myself for the first time. I have done oil changes myself before (a lot of them in fact) but this will be the first one on my new truck. The truck has only had one oil change since I got it new, so this will be the second one. The first one was done at the local dealership at exactly 4981 miles. The truck now has 11302 miles on it, and the Change oil message has not come on yet on the DIC, but I want to change it now anyway before it gets cold. I bought 6 quarts of Mobil Clean 5000 5W-30 oil, an ACDelco Duraguard oil filter, and a Fram Tough Guard air filter. I'm gunna replace the stock air filter while I'm at it. My question is are there any zerk fittings on the truck that I need to lube while I'm at it? Also, is there anything else I should check or replace at this point? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jack.

I'm not sure how many grease points your truck has but yes get under there and hit every one.

I think I must be your evil twin brother. Actually I'm kinda scared.

I had a '92 Dodge Stealth that I sold and bought a 2007 Silverado Classic LT3. First oil change was done by the dealership, but I did the second oil change myself. Anyway, just did my 3rd oil change last week. My Silverado is almost 2 years old now and I just hit 14,500 miles.

You'll find that an oil change on the silverado is much easier than the stealth. So much more space to work with.

Oh, Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Here's a shot of my old love, man I miss her. I didn't really wanna give it up!

Thanks for the help. I just finished changing the oil about an hour ago. It was pretty easy. I replaced the air filter too, and when I took the air box lid off, I found a mouse nest under the filter!!! LOL... Anyways, I cleaned it out and installed the new filter, that was easy also. I'm taking it to a local shop in the morning to get it lubed and have the rear end oil checked. I'm also going to have the tires rotated and balanced.

That's a sweet looking stealth you got there, mine was very similar but it was red. I didn't trade my stealth for the truck, in fact, I traded my ATV for the stealth about a year after I got the truck, but I had to sell the stealth to pay off some bills. Anyways, here's two pics for ya.
