Thinking of new stereo
I'm thinking about upgrading the sound system in my truck but I just don't want to throw sub box under the back seat, does anyone have any suggestions to help make this a nice clean looking install?2005 Chev Silverado Z71

I am actually looking at the same thing. I personally like the space behind my seat just in case. I am probably going to attempt to take out the middle seat's back rest and try to build a box that fits there so someone can still sit there if they can. This will probably be my winter break project here in a couple of weeks.ANDREW

It all depends... what are you looking for / what are your priorities?

I'm the same way I like to keep some stuff under my back seat as well, I've seen some boxes you can buy color is supposed to match your interior, but they kinda look cheap and cheesy, I want to make it look like it belongs in the truck, just not some random afterthought.

If you want a sub in your truck without taking up all of the space under your seat, you should look at the slim fit subs. I know JL audio makes one that is only 3 or so inches deep and made to use tight places. More brands can be found at crutchfield. Also I used to own an 10' eclipse sub with an enclosed box. the box was very small. I couldn't see the box when sitting in the front seat. The eclipse sub also sounded very good for such a small box.

You might look at speaker boxes or enclosures on ebay. MTX and JL audio both have some really nice looking preformed boxes that fit under the back seat and look almost stock they can get kind of pricey so you may want to check around a bit or even might look into having someone build you a fiberglass box for where you are actually wanting the speakers put those are cheaper and light weight boxes.

I think I am going to build some kind of box/console to replace the middle seat in my truck. Haven't decided what to make it out of though... Any ideas?

The MTX boxes do look pretty good, I will probably go in that direction thats almost exactly what I was looking for. I was a little disappointed that the subs for an extended cab truck are down firing but you still get that extra space to lift the seat up and throw stuff on so I guess it works out.
