Thread: VIN decode

  1. #1

    Default VIN decode

Can anyone help me in the decoding of a VIN? I need to know about a 57 GMC p/u.
The VIN is as follows. 102PY18623. I work for a company that owns this vehicle and is trying to sell it. It was purchased in good faith as a 1957 Suburban carrier with the optional 347 Pontiac V8 and the 3 speed Hydromatic transmission. I would like to make sure that the truck is properly represented.

    I found this on LMC's site: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=10

By using that decoder, I come up with a 1/2 ton, 123.25" wheelbase, 6 cylinder, built at the Pontiac, Mich. plant, 1955 second series model year.

    Is this the truck?
