    Default Best ATF?

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I couldn't find anything. I have no idea when the last fluid/filter change was done on my burb, so logic dictates that I do one. I found out the hard way on my Dodge that their trannies don't like anything but a specific type of ATF. Do I need to worry about this with my Chevy? If not, what is the best ATF available that everyone has had success with? I'll be doing light towing for short distances, but long road trips to and from DFW, TX and back with a truck full of kids and luggage.

Not so picky as the dodge. Dextron II or higher is fine.

Synthetic like Mobile one is fantastic, (but expensive) but not needed for everyday use. Your towing might make it worth the cost though

Synthetic will cost more, should withstand higher temp and last longer. Your call$$$ wise.

I like to use the cheapest 'name' brand stuff. If it is red(Pink) and meets the standards on the bottle, I think it will work for me.

More importantly to me is proper level and a trans cooler to keep it cool.
