Default Trucks are for Pulling Things

My ride may not have big tires or a lift kit, but every time I look in the mirror there is a race car behind me----- on the trailer. I like to keep it that way when driving the truck.

This new '08 Silverado is a great tow vehicle.

    Default 1500

I like diesels and have access to a 2500 quad cab with a diesel which pulls great, but with a lightweight open trailer and a light car all I need to pull is sub 4,000 lbs. The 5.3 Vortec pulls that easily. Pulled a small airstream a few weeks ago, and that was also a piece of cake. And a buddies ATV on a open trailer and I hardly knew it was back there. The wide wheel base and new trailering suspension just works. I have a reese hitch with the compensating bars, but hardly need them. I like this new 5.3. I have owned others from prior generations. The transmission is not my favorite and I wish they would put the 6 speed in the half ton, but the 4 speed works.

I also really like the 2wd/AWD/4WD. In snow there is nothing like 4wd. But, when it rains and you need to pull out int traffic the AWD Auto mode is the best.

Have owned a lot of chevy trucks from half to one ton, but I do still miss my little yellow ZR2. That was one tough little truck.

Thanks for the info. My 01 suburban tows nicely as well with the 5.3 but with the diesel there is always room to grow (nice big 5'er someday) and you can't beat the mileage while towing.

That racecar of yours is pretty sweet!

Can't beat 8000 pounds of trailer hardley even dragging down my motor.
I tried out one of those electric go cart race ways last night. Best fun you can have with our clothes on! They top out at about 45 MPH and there are hair pin turns, lots of room to spin out, drift and trade paint.
