I have a 1997 Tahoe LT. My brake lights were not working, so after checking fuses and such I moved on to the switch located above the pedal. It was clipped to the rod that runs into the firewall, but the hole on the switch was not engaged on the pedal. So, I put it on properly and everything was working fine. A few days later I was getting ready to back out of my driveway, and noticed the taillight didn't get brighter when I depressed the pedal, so I checked again and sure enough, it had come off again. So this leads to my question: Should there be a clip or cap or something to hold the switch on the rod ? Remember the clip on the switch itself is ok. It's the hole that goes over the piece that actuates the switch, that's where it's coming off.
Can't remember but you can always zip tie it.
Thanks, but just found a "Stop light switch retainer" kit in the Help! section. So I guess I answered my own question. P/N is 13808 in case anyone else encounters this issue.
