well this is my first post here since i never really did much to my silverado i couldnt handle but heres something i need some help with..
now my 99 silverado has a 4.8 with a 4l60e behind it which i rebuilt with a tci rebuild kit well reverse acted like it was hanging up a bit after the rebuild which i thought was odd because everything else was fine..that said i had it for sale for a while an went to back it up one day and it just dropped reverse bang nothing there..so i pulled the pan on it and the anti clunk support is ground up in the pan..now without that will that cause it to have no reverse??????? it still goes forward just fine theres just no reverse i have no problem pulling it and putting a new one in if thats the issue and its going to fix it.....HELP please i really hope its just that dumb support
this was the first automatic ive ever opened up this far and i did buy the ATSG manual for it but the anti clunk they didnt show all that well in it as to which way it went I'm guessing i put it in the wrong way haha..but i want to know if this will cause a no reverse condition before i open it up because if not I'm guessing a new trans would be a better way to go
thanks for any help i get on this

the reverse did work for a while but all of the sudden it let out a pop and it ddint back up anymore..so should i assume its just the fact the anti clunk isnt there anymore or maybe it took something else with it when it came out..all i found in the pan were pieces of the anti clunk nothing else really that i could see

Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt
A person who makes unnecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):
- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Body kit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performance intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some 3000gt's Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therefore not always considered rice, but it really depends on the severity of the case.

Sounds like it's time to drop it, disassemble and assess the damage.

well i already knew that...that was a pretty useless reply since i already know i have to drop it and take it apart again...not trying to sound like an a$$ here but wow i think i figured that part out long before i ever made this post

that didnt answer anything the question is would that cause it to have no reverse pull it and pull it apart doesnt tell me a thing i already planned on dropping it and either buying a new trans or putting a new anti clunk support in if that will fix it..if not im just going to use it as a core
so yeah it was a useless post to me

Without a visual inspection of the gears and internals ..your basically asking someone to show you how to drive with their eyes closed.
Obviously you either installed something backwards or something in the re-install went hay wire . Something didnt mesh and you saw the end result .
lets us know what the result was that you found on the tranny drop
Btw luv the info you got on the ricer it cracks me up![]()

atually i was asking if someone had also experianced this happening and if that happened to be the cause of it..i was asking for experianced answers but obviously there isnt any..
the rebuild manual showed the support but never stated or pictured the correct way to put it in,thats the only problem i can think of with it
so in the end i guess ill take care of it myself since noone here seems to have any experiance with it

My cousin is a GM ASE master technician who specializes in transmissions. I will try to get a hold of him later today to get you an answer. But with out looking at the transmission anyone can only speculate what the cause was.
Here's a little tid bit that will make you happy though.

And about the Ricer definition. It is pretty funny But just to let you know I have a friend who runs 10.8 in a 2000 civic hatchback. So does he really fit the Ricer definition. Also he is Asian and would probably be pretty insulted by how racial that definition actually is.
