My wife took the kids out shopping. I told her she was nuts. I'm staying home to drag my knuckles on a cheese grater because that is better than being in stores.

My wife went out and said that Wal-Mart was like a zoo, the entire parking lot was full and she had to park a good ways away.

Anyhow, got me a Garmin Nuvi 200, which is the low-end unit, but meets my needs. Plus a
Seagate 3.5" 500GB External Hard Drive. Tons of toys and other stuff too. I slept.

I aso have a similiar set that my dad bought for me on Christmas about 10 or 12 years back. As I recall it was about 100 bucks. I havent broken one tool yet but I didnt get the manual driver. Each year after that he would get me an impact gun or tool chest or something. Even after I graduated high school and moved out of the state. I think he was secretly building his work shop and just tellling my mom the tools were for me. To this day I got everything but the air tools.

I love it. Great value for $97. It came loaded with the 2008 maps and I can see one glaring omission, the new local hospital, but I can update the maps later next year for an additional fee.

Now I gotta figure out how I'm going to mount it. I'm leaning towards getting the vent-mount and finding a way to hard-wire the connector, but we'll see if I get around to that anytime before spring. I probably should have gotten three. One for the TB, one for the Cav and one for my mother-in-law that gets lost when driving into Dallas or Fort Worth. lol

Sad to say I have been in a few of those lines on past Black Fridays, but these days it just ain't worth it.

Black Friday has taken on a darker meaning now that a Wal-Mart employee was trampled to death by throngs of holiday shoppers.

    Reported by: Newsday

A 34-year-old Wal-Mart worker died Friday morning after "a throng of shoppers . . . physically broke down the doors" and knocked him to the ground as the crowd pushed its way into the store at a Valley Stream mall, Nassau police said.

The man was knocked down at 5:03 a.m. at the Green Acres Mall store, and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 a.m.

My wife got home and reported that it was not safe there and that if there were a fire or something ... it would have been real trouble. We got the portable hard drive online and I think that's the wave of the future actually.

Well I ended up getting a much smaller set than I really wanted :( I got the Craftsman 94 pc. set but really all I NEEDED was 1/4 in & 3/8 in ratchets and sockets. So I guess I am satisfied. I will go back and buy a seperate little kit with a 1/2 in ratchet and some sockets. Really I just want to replace all of my random tools with Craftsman tools...

I think I'm going to hold out this year and do most of the shopping for the wife and me in the weeks after Christmas. Something tells me sales will be disappointing enough for merchants to go to clearance pricing. Besides I'm going green and buying used on craigslist. Lots of cabinet shops in my area have closed and the equipment is cheap!
