Default What year model wheels will fit on a 2004 Silverado?

I have a 2004 Silverado, 1500, ext. cab, 2 wheel drive, stock. It came with 16 inch wheels, RPO code "PF9", "Wheel, 16 x 17, cast -aluminum" with P255/70R16 tires. The two rear tires need to be replaced, and I am thinking of getting a complete set of wheels and tires. I am looking at the local CraigsList, considering a set of take-offs from a newer model Chevrolet pickup, or Suburban, or Tahoe, or .....

Will the wheels from a newer model fit on my truck? Specifically, what year model wheels will fit properly? From a casual perusal of CraigsList, it looks as though the wheels are the same up through 2006. But most of the new vehichle "take-offs" are from 2007 and 2008 models. Are those going to fit?

I have seen the 20 inch wheels and tires on newer Silverados, and they look very good. Will they bolt up okay (bolt pattern, offset), and will they fit within the wheel well?

Also, if I stick with the present 16 inch wheels, what size tire can I buy that will look good, fit within the wheel well, and present no problems (other than the need to recalibrate the speedometer)?

ON EDIT: I do not like the "rubber band tire" look. After all, this is a truck, not a Corvette.

if you have the same bot pattern you can take the wheels of any newer truck

i have 16 inch wheels and have 31 inch tires on them and they are far from the rubber band look

I bought a set of '07 GMC "take offs" off of Craig's List for my '04 and they work great. I had 17s and the new ones are 17s. Good Luck!

They'll fit. I took the 22's off my 04 and put them on my 08 NBS. I'll be selling the stock 20's off my 08 shortly and going with something different since I only use them during the winter. Want to go with some 17's with some BFG AT's for winter.

I thought I would post a follow-up here, possibly help out anyone else who finds this thread through a search.

I found an excellent deal on a set of wheels and tires from a late-model Tahoe. 17 inch aluminum wheels with new tires, less than 500 miles, for a very nice price. The tires are 265/70R17. Unfortunately, the tires rub on the front. So if you have a 2004 Silverado 2wd, do NOT go for 265/70R17 tires.

Doesnt the Tahoe wheel have a different offset than the Silverado though? That may have been your issue.

    Thumbs up Go with 20's

I've already seen ton's of 2000 to 2006 truck's cruzin around my neck of the woods and they looked great. I have a set of 20" take off's from a 07 Tahoe but I also have an 07 Silverado. I know the stock 20's will fit witout rubbing as long as you keep the stock tire size.

I know the NBS 20" fit easily on the early 2000 model trucks as long as you dont turn the wheel all the way. A guy I work with just bought some.
