Thread: Window Seal?

  1. #1

    Exclamation Window Seal?

On my 05 silverado, the extended cab window does not have a tight seal when closed. Is there anything way to adjust the latch to tighten the window or do you have to buy a new window seal?

i am not sure what that "thing" is called that "latches" the windo to the truck (sorry) but is that "thing" tight?

if so then it will most likley be a seal

It doesn't leak water but going 45mph and over the air leaking through makes it very loud in the cab

Are you able to get behind the seal where it rests against the panel and push it against the window?
Back in the 70's/80's and 90's this was problem with vent windows and T-tops, so the dealer would provide us a something called "Dum Dum", which you could roll, mold and shape to place behind the various seals of a vehicle to provide additional shim to keep water/wind noise/ rain out.
So, I am not sure how much of the seal is sitting lightly against the glass but you can take a piece of
old seal, check parts stores as they have some material like this, or a small piece of rubber and place
behind out of site to provide a tighter seal?
