Just Bought A '99 'Burb 4x4...
...with the 5.7 vortec. This is the first 4x4 I've owned with CV axles up front. It's got 77,000 miles on it. Anything I need to know about this year 'Burb? Also, the guy threw in a Hypertech Power Programmer III. Anybody have any experience with these?

Welcome to GMTC. Not many people have reported big gains with the hypertech but they did get small gains.

Watch for intake manifold gasket leaks, water pump leaking. If it still has the orange dexcool in, make sure you keep an eye on the coolant level so it doesn't get low (should keep an eye on it with the green stuff, too).

Dexcool
If the warranty is up everybody that I have talked to recomends swapping out the dexcool for regular antifreeze because after awhile the dexcool can turn into gel and plug up your radiator. Hope you like it.

WOW 77,000 miles, great find. The intakes are notorious to go around the 75,000-100,000 mark, mine was almost to the mile at 75,003 when it started to leak. CV axles and u joints have been my only big replacements that I NEEDED anyway. Goog Luck!

my 99 sierra is over 200k and still has the original intake manifolds.
