    Well the black 1500 couldn't cut the mustard. I was extremely disappointed in the 5.7L Vortec, so I replaced it with this one that has the 7.4L Vortec. A real shame as the 1500 was appointed real well.

    $4800 with 107,000. Quite a bit more mileage than the 1500, but I really needed the 7.4L.

    I take it you are pulling things with it???

    That would be the only reason I could see the 1500 not cutting it though we use my tahoe and my Wife's Suburban both to pull cars boats or whatever. they are able to do it they just weren't made to do it full time all the time for something like that, yeah you'd need the 2500 or bigger.

    even at that remember if you want to keep your tranny don't tow in OD only in the drive gears unless it has the tow/haul button on it

    Well sure, I pulled a pontoon boat for a couple hundred miles and it was a loong slow trip. The gas mileage was junk driving in third, so I might as well have the 7.4L and not get run over on the highway...
