I'm starting to look for rims/tires and am wondering what years are interchangeable for my 1999 Suburban. I think I've seen some people claim up to 2002, but also seen a 1996-1999 recommendation.

Former GM cars:
78 Suburban 2WD 454- a towing beast!
71 Buick Electra 225 (the deuce and a quarter)
75 Monte Carlo- 400SB- biggest/heaviest doors GM every made!
70 Impala coupe- my first car

I can't tell from the pic' of your Sub', but it looks like a 2wd. If so it has the 5 lug wheel. GM went to the 6 lug wheel in 2000 on the 1/2 ton 2 wd & 4 wd vehicles. Any GM 5lug wheel from '88 through '99 should fit. Also, the 2wd drives had 15" wheels and the 4wd had 16". Good luck!

FWIW, I've got a set of 6 lug 15's that originally came off of my dad's '75 K5 Blazer -- my brother put them on a couple of late '70's/early '80's Toyotas -- and now they are on my '98 K1500. It would appear that GM hasn't made many changes in the 6 lug bolt pattern over the years, and even seems to share that bolt pattern with Toyota (or Toyota shares with GM).
It's a little ways back, but I know someone posted a link to a table from one of the wheel manufacturers that seemed to have a pretty comprehensive list of wheel bolt patterns. You might see if you can find that, and that should show you what bolt pattern you have, and what other applications share that bolt pattern.

Yea I think the GM 6 lug has been the same for a while as well as the 5 and 8 lug patterns.

As a side note to the lug pattern debate, I put the chrome 454SS rims on my Suburban and love the way it looks with 31x10.50 tires. I used to have the wheels that you have. I don't have a pic readily available but I'll try to dig some up!
