Welcome to the site! I have done research on a few lift kits and most require 4.5" or less backspacing. That is only for a full-blown suspension lift requiring the knuckle replacement. Leveling kits do not change the factory suspension components that would require different wheels.

Leveling kits would not require different backspacing than stock.

Or are you asking if you can run bigger tires by changing the b/s on the wheels before getting the lifts? That's a question I've been wondering myself.

For back spacing and other dimensions, here's a very cool size-by-size interactive graphic comparison http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp If your computer is like mine, you may have to mess around a little to enter the offset, it's on the far right of each drawings' header.

Here's another link for tire size fitment, and mods (if any) req'd: http://www.wheelsforless.com/ChevyWheels/default.htm
    Are we having fun, yet?

i think im going to get a rancho lift kit with the hd rs9000 adjustable shocks, procomp steels 17x9 w/ 4.5 b/s(which the lift calls for) with 33" goodyear mtrs. and then hopefully i wont have to take the tilt test. if i have to crank up the torsion bars ill just get a leveling kit to even it out. i dont like rough riding DDs
